The TWINCOM program is an alternative inspection and credential program designed as a way of deceasing the transaction costs of extraterritoriality. Administered out of the regional economic development office in Saint Pauls, it has been partially adopted as a harmonized and integrated single program to pre-screened travelers for expedited processing by different jurisdictions in the region.
The University of Minnesota is at home in the Minneapolis Metroplex, and houses the Charles Babbage Institute (CBI) – founded 1935 – considered the birthplace of digital data processing. Evo-inspired talks about digital intelligences and their potential legal status appropriately took place here in the September 2070.
There are a lot of private colleges right now which might continue on. Now…I don’t know what cannon looks like around this….so feel free to slap me down if needed.
I’d guess that a lot of tech schools got swallowed into corps based on the models that they are working from. You go to Evo Tech and you work at Evo etc… So all of those tech schools and some others might now be corp tech schools.
But the more liberal arts institutions might maintain themselves as paragons of separation, of holdouts for whatever reasons. And St. Paul is thick with private universities. So you might have a lot of them digging in hard and holding on, you might have things like St. Paul is a great place to go for masters educations, law schools, etc. Minneapolis would have much of the big schools and private training kinds of things. Your party schools are in MPLS, serious students only in St. Paul.
At the beginning of the 2070er, MSP housed a psychiatric hospital owned by the horizon group, in the AIPS patients cared/handled/sedated were, and doctors like the ruthless Dr. Julio Gonzales Schwartz on the latent Technomancern like the hapless Christian Lafleur conducted experiments.
The River dominates the landscape and still even in the 2070s, shapes the flow of bulk goods in and out of the city running the Mississippi with a load to New Orleans, and a back haul of goods.
Charles Lindburg International Airport is a joint civil-military public use international, dirigible and suborbital airport. Minneapolis and St. Louis Railway yard.
LRT or light rail transit has been slowly developing since early 2000’s. The primary tracks outline major quadrants of the city with only a few smaller transit hubs.
The Twin Cities had been primarily serviced by busses. As corps moved in and bought up parcels they created their own transit services within their areas. Now a shell of a bus system runs in some neighborhoods, occasionally. Some of the corps have very high end systems.
The neighborhood of Horizon Tech Schools are serviced by moving, covered heated walkways.
Within both downtowns the skyways create near completely closed systems.
The Minneapolis-St.Paul sprawl is an important station on the trafficking routes that run through the North American continent, including the igloo “smuggling route”, leading from here via the Algonkian-Manitou Council Thunder Bay to Québec. She is best known for being the principal center of land throughout North America with Denver smuggling.
Well known for breakthroughs in health care technology the Twin Cities is still a powerhouse of biomedical growth. Of course many of the large corps, but it is also a hotbed for small start up companies. They are incubated just long enough to be absorbed by the larger corps if they are successful.
The smaller companies trade ideas and people back and forth often, and rarely willingly.
Though there are strict laws for the metro about testing these new biomed breakthroughs several enterprising businesses have started up just to give them a way around the laws.
